John 11:35
To many the scripture (Jesus Wept) may seem insignificant and perhaps an easy way out when asked to quote a scripture. To me it shows the connection of humanity between us and our Lord. The scripture in context is at the time He becomes aware Lazarus has died. Even though He knew he would be raised the Lord still wept, which shows that even He felt emotions of heart ache. I cant help but think that with us being His children He must shed tears when we struggle with circumstances in this life. How amazing we have a God who knows our pain and can identify with it on a personal level. To many times I've found myself feeling like less of a Christian when feeling the heart ache of loss but have recently found that God doesn't look on you any less for feeling pain.In fact in Romans 12:15; "rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep." Sorrow at the death of friends is not improper. It is right to weep. It is the expression of nature and religion does not forbid or condemn it. All that religion does in the case is to temper and chasten our grief; to teach us to mourn with submission to God; to weep without complaining, and to seek to banish tears, not by hardening the heart or forgetting the friend, but by bringing the soul, made tender by grief, to receive the sweet influences of religion, and to find calmness and peace in the God of all consolation. So for those of you who have pain lay it out before the Lord, for He is more than able to help guide you through the process
